Cross-Country Men & Women Place At Roy Griak Invitational

Men finish 2nd, women finish 19th in opening meet of the season.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - By placing four runners in the top 25, the University of South Dakota men's cross-country team finished second with 98 points at the Roy Griak Invitational held Saturday at the Les Bolstad Golf Course. The women's team finished 19th with 526 points.

Senior Jason Probasco led the USD men by finishing ninth, covering eight kilometers in 25:34. Senior Noah Deyo finished 14th with a time of 25:49. Other Coyote finishers included sophomore Adam Lindahl (26:03, 17th), sophomore Jacob Christenson (26:16, 25th), junior Ed Whetham (26:25, 33rd), senior David Farnsworth (26:40, 45th), and sophomore Andy Nelson (27:05, 75th).

Marty Rosendahl, a junior from Minnesota State, Mankato, was the men's individual leader at 25:06 and Chris Raabe, a senior from North Dakota State, was second at 25:25. Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the men's team title with 80 points. South Dakota State finished third with 109 points.

Junior Aimee Dunlop led the USD women, covering five kilometers in 19:07--good enough for 25th. Freshman Jenny Buller finished 88th with a time of 19:58. Other Coyote finishers included freshman Molly Meng (20:21, 125th), senior Alison Luedke (20:36, 143rd), and senior Patricia Goertz (20:37, 145th).

Johanna Olson, a senior from Luther College, won the individual title with a time of 17:48. Jeanette Mott, a junior from Pittsburg State, was second at 18:14. North Dakota won the women's team title with 110 points, well ahead of second-place Northern Michigan with 182 points.
