VERMILLION, S.D. - - The South Dakota men’s and women’s cross country teams ended the 2011 seasons on a positive note as each finished in the top five at the Summit League Championships in Oct. 29. Both teams displayed growth throughout the year and will return veteran cores in 2012.

Mettler Named to Men’s All-League First Team; Coyote Cross Country Teams 5th at Summit League Championships
TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore Jeff Mettler placed fifth and earned first-team all-conference honors to lead the South Dakota men’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Summit League Championships, which were held Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. The Coyote women, led by a 16th-place finish by junior Jessica Brandli, also placed fifth at the event with 132 points.

Mettler Sets Record as Coyote Men Win Tim Young Invitational; Women Take 2nd
VERMILLION, S.D. – Sophomore Jeff Mettler ran the fastest time ever posted by a Coyote on the Don Baker 8K Course to lead the South Dakota men’s cross country team to a win at the Tim Young Invitational Saturday in Vermillion, S.D. The Coyote women, led by a good run by junior Jessica Brandli, also had a solid showing at their home meet with a second-place finish behind winner North Dakota State.

Coyote Cross Country Hosts Tim Young Invitational Saturday
VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota cross country teams hold their lone home meet of the 2011 season on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they host the Tim Young Invitational. The event will be held at the Don Baker Cross Country Course, located at the intersection of South Dakota Highway 50 and University Road in Vermillion, S.D.
