Volleyball Team Finishes UNK Tournament With Win

Coyotes come away from Kearney, Neb. with a 2-2 mark.

VERMILLION, S.D. - The University of South Dakota women's volleyball team moved to 2-2 on the season by winning in impressive fashion over Chadron State Saturday evening at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Tournament. The young Coyote squad won in three straight games 15-4, 15-2, 16-14.

The Coyotes were led by sophomore Sarah Vollertson of Palmyra, Neb., Amber Abrams of Rapid City, S.D., Leslie Fusinato of Spring Valley, Ill. and freshman Becky Olson of Norfolk, Neb. All four players had 10 kills each. Olson also had 14 digs while Katie Wancho of Reddick, Ill. registered 38 set assists for the Coyotes.

Earlier on Saturday, the Coyotes fell to Findlay 15-3, 15-13, 15-9. The Coyotes were led by Olson, who had seven kills and Vollertson, who had six. Wancho contributed with 18 assists.

USD split a pair of games on Friday, defeating Tarleton State in three games and losing to host Nebraska-Kearney in three games.

USD hosts Wayne State College in the DakotaDome Wednesday night at 7:30 PM.
