Coyotes Stunned By Bears In Soccer, 9-0

Northern Colorado gets two goals in opening 10 minutes of game.

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of South Dakota soccer team (4-7, 1-3) fell to Northern Colorado, 9-0, in a North Central Conference match on Sunday afternoon.

Mandy Nilsen led the Bears (7-4, 3-1) to the win by scoring three goals, including two in the first ten minutes (:15, 9:27) of the match. Northern Colorado added first-period goals by Sara Peterson (10:29) and Ambyr Lemoreaux (35:00). The Bears scored five more goals in the second half. The scores were by Erin McGinnis (46:13), Kiha Thomas (51:18), Nilsen (52:03), Christine Devaney (55:25) and Erin Bunn (78:25).

Northern Colorado outshot South Dakota 39-3 and had a 15-0 advantage in corner kicks. South Dakota freshman goalkeeper Esther Regalado recorded eight saves.

South Dakota will host North Dakota on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 PM and North Dakota State on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 PM at the soccer field just north of the DakotaDome.
