Chad Rohde and Brianne Vette of The University of South Dakota finished fifth in the North
Central Conference multi-event competition held at Morningside College Monday and Tuesday.
This multi-event competition is one of 21 events scored in the North Central Conference meet
that will be held May 11-12 at Fargo, N.D.
In the men's decathlon competition, Rohde (sophomore, Watertown, S.D.) totaled 6,418 points to
finish fifth and collect four team points. First day leader Paul Brozik (sophomore, Winner,
S.D.) finished with 6,186 points for seventh place and two team points. Josh Hofer (junior,
Freeman, S.D.) was eighth with 6,050 points and one team point. In total, the Coyotes men's
team garnered seven team points that they will take to the NCC meet. Nate Schmidt of NDSU won
the men's competition with 6,949 points. Ben Brittenham of Northern Colorado finished second
with 6,704 points.
In the women's competition, Brianne Vette (freshman, Spearfish, S.D.) finished fifth with
4,520 points which provided the USD women's team with four team points for the NCC meet.
Jennifer Higgins of St. Cloud State University won the heptathlon competition with 5,436
points while Meredith Davis of Morningside College had 5,302 points.
