The South Dakota women's track and field team finished second and the men's team were 6th at the Division II Challenge held at Emporia State University on Saturday. The women's team finished with 88.5 points, just behind North Dakota State, who won the meet with 122 points. The South Dakota men had 68 points for sixth. Emporia State had 98.25 to win the men's competition.
The Coyotes had four individual titlists at the meet. For the women, Sara Deckert took first in the 200-meter dash (24.19); Molly Wedel won the 5000-meter run (17.40.20); and Aimee Dunlop captured the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11.41.62). Jenny Buller was second in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase (11:45.82). Deckert also took third in the 400-meter dash (55.72), Tonya Kneifl was third in the high jump (5'05.75), and fourth in both the long jump (18'04.50) and the 100-meter hurdles (14.97). Mandi Muller was third in the discus (156'09) and hammer throw (154'07). For the Coyote men, Andrew Neugebauer won the 1500-meter run (3:53.80). Jason Probasco finished second in the 5,000-meter run (15:13.10). Ronnie McDougle was second in the 200-meter dash (21.13) and Scott Ellwanger finished second in the 1,500-meter run (3:54.73). Noah Deyo was third in the 5,000-meter run (15:15.88). In addition, the Coyotes men's 4x400 meter relay team finished second (3:13.69).
