FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The University of South Dakota men's and women's track and field team captured six titles at the Rob Upton Invitational held at Colorado State University on Saturday in Fort Collins, Colo.

For the South Dakota men's team, Josh Hofer (Freeman, S.D.) was first in the 110-meter hurdles (14.99) and Derek Pelc (Norfolk, Neb.) won the high jump in 6'04.75. Richard Ross (Lincoln, Neb.) was second in the triple jump (45'01.75) and Chris Slatt (Fairmont, W.V.) finished second in the long jump (23'01.75). Lee Lockwood (Rapid City, S.D.) was third in the 400-meter dash (48.50) while Ryan Bell (Alexandria, S.D.) was fourth in the javelin throw (163'02).

The South Dakota women's team had four individual titles including two by Sara Deckert (Doland, S.D.), who won both the 100-meter (11.66) and 200-meter (24.69) dashes. Tonya Kneifl (Newcastle, Neb.) won the high jump (5'07) and Tammy Christensen (Freeman, S.D.) won the 800-meter dash (2:19.84). Sandy Pelkofer (Rapid City, S.D.) was second in the pole vault (11'02) and Brianne Vette (Spearfish, S.D.) was second in the long jump (17'08.75) and fourth in the 100-meter high hurdles (15.88). Nicole Mitchell (Omaha, Neb.) finished third in the triple jump (35'09.50). Both South Dakota's 4x100-meter relay (47.36) and 4x400-meter relay (4:00.29) finished second.
