Marci Miller went 11'03 and finished second at the Iowa State Open being held Jan. 24-25 at Ames, Iowa.

AMES, IOWA -- The South Dakota men's and women's track and field team, led by a win in the mile by Scott Ellwanger, recorded several top 10 finishes at the Iowa State Open being held Jan. 24-25.

Ellwanger won the mile run in 4:13.23 and was the only Coyote individual titlist.

However several athletes finished in the top five. Marci Miller (Rapid City, S.D.) was second in the women's pole vault (11'03.75) while Molly Wedel (Spencer, Iowa) was third in the women's 5,000 (17:56.86) to provisionally qualify for NCAA Division Indoor Nationals. Brianne Vette (Spearfish, S.D.) was third in the triple jump (38'078.25) and Mandi Muller (Schuyler, Neb.) took third in the shot put (44'09). Meghann Reifenrath (Rock Rapids, Iowa) finished third in the 400-meter dash (58.27).

Also for the men's team, Sam Pribyl (Webster, S.D.) went 16'00.75 to finish second in the men's pole vault. Shane Roder (Linn Grove, Iowa) was third in the 800-meter run (1:51.79). Tony Turgeon was third in the men's 5,000 meter run (14:56.12). The men's 4x400-meter relay was third in 3:17.94.
