USD Men’s Golf Team Finishes 5th at Erv Kaiser Invitational

Jim Walsh tied for eighth overall to lead USD at the Erv Kaiser Invitational.

FARGO, N.D. -- The University of South Dakota men’s golf team finished fifth at the 54-hole Erv Kaiser Invitational hosted by North Dakota State on Tuesday at the Oxbow Country Club in Fargo, N.D.
USD finished the event with a team score of 891, just eight shots behind second-place teams Manitoba and North Dakota. Wisconsin-Green Bay won the event at 855.
Jim Walsh (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) was the top Coyote scorer, finishing with a 221 (74-73-74) to tie for eighth overall. Ben Heller (Fr., Aberdeen, S.D.) finished at 223 (71-70-82) and tied for 16th for USD, while Ty Munneke (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) shot a three-round total of 227 (75-73-79) to finish tied for 23rd. Kyle Scanlon (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.) carded a 228 (78-73-77) and Gavin Fawbush (Jr., Madison, S.D.) ended at 231 (75-79-77) to round out the USD lineup.
Nathan Wazney of Manitoba was the overall medalist with a five-under par 211.
The USD men resume action on Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence, Kan.
