Vermillion, S.D. – Sophomore running back Chris Ganious has been named the Great West Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday. The weekly honor is the first of Ganious’ career, while he is the second Coyote to earn the accolade this season.
A native of Houston, Texas, Ganious was a workhorse in USD’s 45-21 win over Southern Utah on Saturday. He posted a career-high 193 yards on 25 carries to average 7.7 yards per attempt. He also notched two touchdowns, including a 45-yard scoring scamper in the second quarter that put USD up 28-7, as the Coyotes rushed for 362 yards as a team. Ganious caught three passes for 41 yards. The 100-yard rushing game was the fifth of his career and second time he had topped the 150-yard mark.
