Dr. Christina (Tina) Keller begins her first year as the faculty athletic representative (FAR). She has been a faculty member at The U for 17 years. Currently, she is an associate dean of administration in the College of Arts and Sciences and an associate professor of physics. Prior to being named an associate dean, she was chair of the Department of Earth Sciences and Physics. She has served on numerous university task forces and committees, including the Mathematics Task Force, the University Scholarship Committee, the Gender Equity Oversight Committee and the Athletic Board of Control. She is the co-chair for the Athletic Review Task Force, appointed by President James Abbott during the summer of 2006. A recipient of the Belbas-Larson Award for Excellence in Teaching (2006), she regularly teaches calculus-based introductory physics, modern physics and experimental modern physics. In addition, Dr. Keller has taught the algebra-based physics course, astronomy and various upper level courses. Her research interest includes theoretical condensed matter physics and physics education and she has actively worked to promote physics in South Dakota . Dr. Keller has a B.S. degree in physics(1984), M.S. degree in physics (1986) and a Ph.D. in physics (1988), all from North Dakota State University. At NDSU, Keller was a four-year letter winner in women’s basketball for the Bison from 1980-84. A three-year starter, Keller was twice named Academic All-North Central Conference. She and her husband Gary Larson have a son Alex and reside in Vermillion.
